3 weeks...

Just wanted to post a few pictures of the kids. Gianna is 3 weeks and has officially "woken up."So she is up more during the day (and night)  therefore I am working on getting her to sleep in other places than my arms. I had the same problem with Luca and it just took some consistency to break him of it. We will see. It has been a struggle to take care of Gianna and Luca. I feel bad not giving her as much attention as I gave Luca when he was born but that is how it is with your second I just need to come to terms with that. Other then that things are good. I am just SOOO thankful not to be pregnant anymore that I am just loving life....

2 week update

Well we have made it through our first 2 weeks as a family of 4. We are still trying to figure Gianna out but she is a great baby and is still sleeping most of the days/nights. We are averaging around 6 hours of sleep a night. Lately Gia has woken up around 930p and stayed up until about 1130p then Luca wakes up around 630a so we are adjusting. I can say Gianna is very different then Luca was. Luca was a very chill baby while Gianna uses her lungs to get what she wants, she will go from 0 to 60 in a blink of an eye but luckily is easily calmed down.  She does not like being bottle fed so we are working on that so I can get a little freedom. Other then that she is a content little baby.

Luca is doing well. We have a few little incidents but nothing crazy. He seems to keep his distance except to tell her she is "so cute" and to give her blankets and her pacifier...I think he is adjusting really really well.

We took Gia to her 2 week check up. She is now back to her birth weight of 9.9lbs she has grown an inch and a half in height and is a healthy baby!

Other than that nothing is really new. Trying to enjoy this sunshine since it probably wont last long. Here is a picture of Gia from this morning at 2 weeks old. Rob surprised me with an Iphone for my baby and mother's day gift so I am going to try to post pictures of the kids more often since it is so easy now. As you can tell from the picture below Gianna DID get Luca's budda belly!

Gianna Rhys Bellenghi

Sorry for the delay in posting pictures. We relied on family to take most of them so I am still waiting for those emails to get to me (hint-family members) anyways. So Monday I went to my last doctor's appointment and found that my blood pressure had increased dramatically, there was protein in my urine, and I had gained 6lbs of water weight in a week. My doc then decided we shouldn't wait until Thursday to do the c-section and sent me to the hospital to have Gianna. I was a little in shock but mostly prepared as we got ready to go to the hospital to have her. Everything seemed very relaxed this time around as I knew what was to come.

Gianna Rhys (pronounced Reese) Bellenghi was born on April 6th, 2009 at 4:46 pm. She weighed a whopping 9lbs 9oz (missing Luca's birth weight by an ounce) she was 19.50 inches short :) Luca was 19.75. She came out screaming and very healthy.

I was very surprised and thankfully she took right to breast feeding and has been an awesome baby since the moment I saw her.  She sleeps A LOT thankfully and we have been getting good sleep so that is a plus. She is a chunky monkey and we find ourselves looking at pictures and laughing at those cheeks! Luca seems to be adjusting normally. He wasn't a huge fan of the hospital but he acknowledged Gianna and told her happy birthday and said she was so cute but he didn't care to touch or kiss her. We came home this afternoon so we are adjusting to a family of 4. While being at home he still has yet to go around her which is totally fine by me. We are just going to let him do his thing and go at his own pace.

Contractions

Just wanted to give a little update....in the last two days I have been in Labor and Delivery twice, once for bad chest pains (scary) and the other for contractions. Obviously both resulted in me being sent home.  Luca did not like seeing me lay in the bed and me not able to get up. I think it scared him a bit and now he says no baby sister all the time :( he is in for a rude awakening soon.

Contractions have been pretty regularly...far apart and not to painful. The dr said that if they become more painful or my water breaks to go right into the hospital and have the c section so we will see how the next three days goes. I really would like to make it to at least Monday since my dr will be back in town and I wont be stuck with whoever is on call but we will see what this baby decides to do!

Regardless of what happens we will have a baby by the 9th, so that is good to know!
