Update

It has been a while since I updated the post so I thought I would just put up some pictures. Things are going great as we are gearing up for Luca's first Christmas and birthday! Luca is just getting over his first ear infection and will be thankfully feeling good for the festivities. We have had to put a gate around the tree as Luca is very "interested" in it. He is pretty much running now and keeps us on our toes, if we don't hear him we know he is into something he shouldn't be into. Other then that not much else to report on. I will put up more pictures in the up coming weeks.

Girls Weekend 2007

Last weekend was my annual girls weekend and this year it was held here in Portland. Some of my closest girlfriends flew in from Alaska, Arizona, and Colorado to spend the weekend in Portland. We had a great time going out to eat, wine tasting, and stopping by a few bars along the way. It was a wonderful weekend and some much needed girl time as 3 of the 5 of us just had our first babies within this last year! As expected we had a fabulous time and have already planned the next 8 girls weekends in the years to come.

Sorry for the delay in my posting, we have been busy busy these days. Luca had a great first Halloween as you can see he was a Monkey! We headed down to Lebanon during the day to visit Grandma and Poppi Shimmin at their workplaces and trick or treat with Luca's cousin Jack. Then that evening visited Maw Maw and Pop Pop Bellenghi's house. Here are some pictures!

Luca is 10 Months Old!

Luca is 10 Months old now, it has gone by so fast he is now WALKING. Today he took about 20 steps at one time. Although he is still wobbly he is walking! He is now sleeping and eating very well. As you can see from the pictures we visited a pumpkin patch over the weekend. We lucked out with the weather and had a great time. Although Luca was more interested in playing in the dirt instead of with the Pumpkins we all enjoyed it. Next up is Halloween and I will post those pictures Thursday!

Rob's Birthday!!

We celebrated Rob's birthday with a jam packed day. We had Luca's first swim lesson! It was so fun to watch him play in the water with the other babies and see him swim with Rob. He did great and loved every second of it. After the lesson we rushed home to get Luca in bed while Uncle Jake babysat so we could go to dinner to celebrate Rob turning 29! We had dinner with our good friends Rob and Nichole at Iorio a great little Italian restaurant on Hawthorne.

Luca is 9 Months old!!!

Another month has come and gone and Luca is constantly thriving. He is standing for short bursts of time and walking using the walls and furniture so it shouldn't be long before he is running away from me in the store. We had a rough month of sleep it appeared that Luca enjoyed waking up a few times a night to visit with Rob and I. I think we have broke him of the habit as he has been sleeping better the last few days. We are really striving to follow the same routine every night and get him to bed at the same time to allow him to sleep better. We are still working on the baby food. He seems to eat half the container every meal but will never eat the entire portion. Our pediatrician says that perhaps he wants to just go straight to our regular food and doesn't like the baby food. I think this is the case as every time Rob and I are eating he is smacking his gums waiting for us to give him some.

In other exciting news Rob and I celebrated our Two year wedding anniversary September 24th, this joyous occasion was quickly dampened as I was sick and really didn't feel like doing anything. So unlike our first anniversary spent in Copenhagen we spent this one at Claim Jumper :) We still had a really nice dinner together but I would looking forward to getting back home to my sweats!

Labor Day Weekend in Lincoln City

We had a great weekend at Rob's folk's house in Lincoln City. The weather was great, Luca experienced his first college football weekend with an Oregon Win, and we had a nice relaxing time. Here are some pictures from the trip.

Luca is 8 Months Old!!!

What a month, so many firsts! Luca is now pulling himself up, crawling like crazy, and and attempting to take steps. Everything is now a toy to him. His favorites seem to be the tv, my cellphone, and the remote control. He is into everything and constantly on the go. Needless say my days are spent telling him "no" and picking him up and taking him back to his "toy section" of the house. He is still waking up two to three times a night but luckily some friends have informed me this is normal and just another stage he is going through, thankfully. Luca is now making the bababa, mamama, and dadada sound. We think he is starting to understand who mama and dada are but he isn't calling us that yet. Although my days are getting tougher, with each day comes more joy then then last.

Catching up....

Just wanted to write and let you all know what is going on in our world....Luca is now crawling and pulling himself up like crazy so that has keep me on my toes! He is for some reason back to waking up around 1:00am and 5:45am every night so hopefully it is just growth spurt or a tooth coming in or some phase that will be over soon because it isn't that much fun. Other then that we are enjoying our summer immensely! Here are some pictures from the last few weeks.

Relaxing Family Weekend.....

So I blew off my 10 year reunion to enjoy a relaxing weekend with my family and I am so happy I did. We hadn't had a single weekend where we didn't have anything to do. We did have a family birthday party to attend but that was the only thing on the agenda for the weekend. Our first stop was Cupcake Jones, a new cupcake store in the pearl. The cupcakes were wonderful and gave us the sugar boost we needed! Then we explored the Pearl District and found a great park in the heart of it. Luca played in the water and we had a mini picnic. On the way back to the car we came across a wine bar called Vino Paradisco which allowed Minors in so we had to try it out. After a nice glass of wine and some antipasti we were on our way. It was a great low key family day in the sun and I couldn't have asked for anything more....I am all about the planning and filling our calendars to the max but weekends like this remind me how nice it is not to have anything to do!

Vegas Baby!!

Well we just got home from a great vacation in Las Vegas. Our good friends Rhianna and Ko joined us as we took our first vacation away from Luca. It was hard to leave him but I think we all needed it! We arrived on my birthday and had an amazing dinner at Olives in the Bellagio. We sat out on the patio and enjoyed the Bellagio fountian Show all throughout dinner. Sunday we spent the day shopping and enjoying yards of hurricanes and other tasty beverages and then had a low key dinner that evening and met up with some boys from Lebanon that we grew up with. Sunday was spent mostly recovering from a long weekend you would think since we were away from Luca we would get some rest, but that wasn't the case. After taking the red eye out of Vegas on Monday we arrived home to our baby and our bed at 3am!!

The weekend was great and Luca did great with my parents for the weekend. We came back to find him not really crawling but scooting wherever he wants to go. I guess I was way off in my last blog. He is also now able to sit up from laying on the floor which is new as well. In just 3 days he changed so much, he seems more like a little boy now!

Luca is 7 months old!!!

Another fun and exciting month behind us. Luca has now started eating baby food and seems to like sweet potatoes and squash but is not a fan of peas! He is still doing well at night but lately has been waking up around 3 wide awake and ready to play so that isn't fun. He is thinking about crawling and moves from a sitting position to his belly to grab his toys but I think crawling won't happen for a while thankfully. His first tooth has broken through. Although he hasn't been extra fussy he has been extra needy, he seems to notice now if his mama leaves the room so it has been a little harder to get my chores done. Other than that we just spend our days playing and visiting friends. Here are some random pictures from the month!
